TV Reader

Terms of Use

Last updated:

These terms apply to TV Reader for Apple TV, TV Reader Sync for iPhone and iPad, and TV Reader Pro (together, “the app”), made by CurrentOrbit LLC (“we”, “us”). By using the app, you agree to them.

1. Your licence

The app is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). These terms add to the Standard EULA; where the two differ, the Standard EULA applies.

2. Your books

TV Reader is a reader. Apart from the sample books it includes and access to Project Gutenberg’s public catalogue, it doesn’t sell or supply books.

  • You’re responsible for having the right to read the books you add.
  • The app doesn’t open DRM-protected books, and you may not use it to get around copy protection.
  • Project Gutenberg books are free of copyright in the United States. Their status may differ where you live, and Project Gutenberg’s own terms apply to them.

3. The free version and TV Reader Pro

  • The free version includes every reading feature and holds one book of your own at a time. The sample books don’t count.
  • TV Reader Pro removes that limit. It is offered as an auto-renewing yearly subscription or as a one-time Lifetime purchase, bought in the app on Apple TV. The price is shown in the app before you buy.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
  • A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription in Settings › Profiles and Accounts on Apple TV, or in your Apple Account settings on iPhone, iPad or Mac. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep TV Reader Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
  • Purchases cover every Apple TV signed in with the same Apple Account.
  • Apple handles refunds under its own policies. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
  • If your subscription ends, nothing is deleted. The book you read most recently stays open to you. Your other books stay in your library with their progress, highlights and notes, and open again when you subscribe or buy Lifetime.
  • We may change prices or what TV Reader Pro includes. Any change to a subscription’s price follows Apple’s rules, including advance notice and, where required, your consent.

4. Services from others

Some features rely on services we don’t run: iCloud (Apple), the translation service you choose, Project Gutenberg and Gutendex, and websites you download from. Their own terms and privacy policies apply. You’re responsible for any account, API key or fees you have with them. Machine translation can be wrong, so don’t rely on it where accuracy matters. We aren’t responsible for the availability or content of these services.

5. Using the app

Use the app lawfully and for your personal reading. Don’t copy, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute it, except where the law allows.

6. No warranty

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that synced data will never be lost, so keep your own copies of books that matter to you. This doesn’t affect any rights you have under consumer law.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data. Our total liability for any claim about the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

8. Changes and ending

We may update these terms. We’ll post the new version here and update the date above; if you keep using the app afterwards, the new terms apply. You can stop at any time by deleting the app. Your licence ends automatically if you break these terms.
