Adding books

Open the Add Books tab on Apple TV:

• Send from iPhone. On an iPhone or iPad, share a book file from any app and choose Send to TV, or add it in the free TV Reader Sync app. The first time, type the code shown on the TV.
• Upload over Wi‑Fi. Start the upload page, open the address shown on the TV in a browser on any computer on the same Wi‑Fi, enter the 6-digit code and drop your files.
• Download from a URL. Type a direct link to a book file.
• Project Gutenberg. Search and download free public-domain books.

TV Reader opens EPUB, MOBI, AZW, AZW3 (KF8), PRC, TXT and FB2 files without DRM. Books bought in the Kindle or Apple Books stores are protected and can’t be opened. PDF isn’t supported yet.

Deleting a book

In the library, press and hold the centre of the clickpad on a book and choose Delete. This removes the book, with its progress, highlights and notes, from all your devices.

Syncing between Apple TVs and iPhone

Sign in with the same Apple Account, with iCloud turned on, on each Apple TV and iPhone. Your library, progress, highlights, notes and settings then sync automatically. A large book can take a few minutes to appear on another device.

Bilingual reading

While reading, click the centre of the clickpad to show the menu bar and choose Bilingual, or go to Settings › Translation provider & language. Google Translate works without setup. To use DeepL, Microsoft, OpenAI, Claude or another service, choose it and enter your API key; you can also type the key on a computer through Upload over Wi‑Fi. On iPhone, TV Reader Sync can translate a whole book on the device for free with Translate whole book.

Unlocking and restoring TV Reader Pro

The free version holds one book of your own at a time; the sample books are always free. To add more, unlock TV Reader Pro in Settings › TV Reader Pro, or when you add a second book.

Bought it already, on another Apple TV or before reinstalling? Open Settings › TV Reader Pro and choose Restore Purchases. Make sure the Apple TV is signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you bought it with.

Managing your subscription

On Apple TV, go to Settings › Profiles and Accounts, choose your account, then Subscriptions. On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. For refunds, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
